Very busy week

As usual, we've been pretty busy. This past week, though, my family was in from NY enjoying the end of the summer before the school year starts.

Actually, I'll start with a week ago Sunday, before they got in. We played at the Plum Creek Presbyterian Church Praise Fest. It went pretty well! It was blazing hot and even I was find in just a tank top and shorts in the evening. If I'm not cold you know it's really hot out. I played bass for the 2nd time, on the U2 song, Magnificent. My hands were sliding around because I was sweating from the heat. I don't know how our bass player, Jay, played the rest of the songs! I think that is one of my favorite places to play because we can play music with more rhythm and volume. Although they need a new keyboard- it randomly let go of the sustain function so we ran home to get mine and let the rest of the bands use mine.

My parents came in on Monday. They typically camp about 15-20 minutes away from our house. I think it actually works better for both of us. They have their own space (and are getting used to their camper) and we don't have to worry about getting ready for work quietly in the morning during the week. Monday night we went to the camper and had dinner there, then played a game of Phase 10. I used to be good at that game and now I'm pretty bad at it! I lost for sure, even though we didn't end up finishing the game.

Tuesday I had a dentist appointment but after that I met my parents for a tailgate by PNC Park and Heinz Field, and then we went to see the Pirates, who actually won! (They had a 5 game winning streak last week and actually swept the Brewers.) Dave and Don were also there. Dave used some free tickets and coincidentally my parents picked the same weekend without knowing it.

Wednesday was my parents' 31st wedding anniversary and we celebrated with them at the Hofbrauhaus. I love that place. Here's a picture of Allison, me, and Dave. Oh and I should mention, Dave took a vacation day and the 4 of them went to the Steelers training camp during the day.

And the happy couple. I hope they don't mind this picture. I have some of them with beer in their hands (toasting, etc.) but I like this one because it's spontaneous.

Thursday my parents left and Allison was at our house by herself until I got home from work. We laid low and just cooked out and played some video games on the Wii. Allison is awesome at Mario Kart (taught us some tricks) and she and I kick butt at Guitar Hero. It's great to be able to play with someone else who can play expert.
I took a vacation day on Friday to spend some time with Allison. Our plans really changed though. She wanted to go to the Carnegie Science Center. I said that was ok, so we drove down. It was weird- the whole way down she had her eyes closed, sleeping. I figured she was just tired. As soon as we pulled in and parked, she said she felt sick. We started to walk in towards the bathroom, and she didn't even make it in the door. Poor kid, she actually threw up. After that, she said she felt better, so we got in line. Thank goodness (for once...) it was really long. We were almost to the front (about half an hour into the wait) and she said she didn't feel good again. I let her decide and she wanted to go home. She threw up again on the way home and spent the rest of the day and about half of Saturday in bed. I felt so bad for her.
She did pull out of it Saturday about mid afternoon and we took her to the Heinz History Center. They had the Vince Lombardi trophies (Super Bowl) displayed publicly for a limited time. I wish I had remembered that when my parents were here, my dad would have died.
Here are Allison and I, getting as close as we can!

Then we went to Spaghetti Warehouse. When Allison ate, she finally felt much better.
The rest of the time we played more video games, and then I met my parents halfway (actually closer to Pittsburgh) to exchange Allison to get her back to Corning. Usually we meet in State College but it was move in weekend and we decided that would be too crowded, so we met at an Arby's off of an exit on I-80.
