I ran for the first time a few days ago. I did sign up for a 5k but due to a death in the family I will not be able to run it. So I'm already looking for another one. I'm hoping to up the running again a little bit.
I'm not tracking walking mileage, just the number of times I walk. I tend to walk around the neighborhood alone, with a neighbor, or with Dave, or at work with one of my coworkers.
And biking, yes, that 100 miles was on purpose. It was an original goal but I had some busy/tired weeks. I realized though, at the end, that I could get it if I pushed. So I did, and just got slightly over it! Future months, it would be nice to continue to get 100 miles. That will depend on how often I run, though.

You're doing a great job.
ReplyDeleteMaybe you could make a goal like 110 total for running + bike so you could run 10 miles and bike 100 or run 40 miles and bike 70. You will probably bike A LOT more miles but it will allow for some compensation in your goal. Or you could say that each run mile counts for 2 miles in your total and then try to do 130 total "miles" or something. Or call them points and 1 bike mile = 1 point and 1 run mile = 2 points. So then it helps you meet the goals and not totally hit the biking mileage but then not run at all or vice versa.
Thanks! That's a good idea- 110 total for running and bike. Then if I up the running I won't feel so guilty about not biking as much.
DeleteI'll have to play all this by ear and listen to my body so we'll see! I almost don't want to make goals "out loud" because they really are kind of in my mind what I'd like to do but I'm not going to push hard if I'm not feeling it.
