This month it semed like the theme was movies, which is one of Dave's favorite topics. I knew he'd have some interesting answers. And yes, insert eye rolls where he says. He knows me well.
1. What was your favorite movie of 2013?
![]() |
| I guess I need to start taking pictures of Dave without Neil. Every picture he's in, it's with Neil. |
Considering that we watched, what, 3 movies from 2013 (Fast & Furious 6, Monsters U, and Oz The Great and Powerful), I'm not sure which one my favorite would be. I love the F&F "saga" (LOL), especially with how the story unfolded when all the original cast returned with 4. Parts 4 and 5 were better than 6,but 6 made part 3 fit into continuity. I really really really wanted to see what happens with 7, but with the passing of Paul Walker, I wonder if it'll happen. I originally didn't care much for part 3. I rewatched it after seeing 6, and you look at parts of it a little differently, almost like some of it was written with 6 in mind. Monsters U was a really good prequel to Monsters Inc, and really funny and cute. I really wanted to love Oz The Great and Powerful, since The Wizard of Oz is in my top 10 all time. It was just ok, it got better as the movie went along. I like the musical Wicked better for a prequel though (and puts a whole new spin on the story), but Oz the Great and Powerful was a pretty cool perspective. So to pick one, I guess it would have to be Fast 6. RIP Paul Walker
(This is a partial list of what I want to see that was released in 2013: Iron Man 3, Man of Steel, Gravity, Star Trek, This Is the End, Evil Dead, Red 2, Kick Ass 2, The World's End... )
2. What is your all time favorite movie quote?
The greatest line in a movie EVER:
My favorite line... not sure I can narrow down to just one. There are so many good ones, so I'll give you just a few.
I quote this all the time:
From that same movie (can't find a clip of it online), I point over at a pile of wood and say "That's firewood" with a very bad accent. I'm laughing right now just thinking about that, and I'm sure Jen is rolling her eyes. haha
And every time I see a Circle K, I HAVE to say this (what Ted says at the end of the clip):
My favorite line from The Wizard of Oz is from the Scarecrow, when he repeats what Dorthy says as a question (starting around the 32 second mark):
And from another 1939 movie, there is the last line of Gone With the Wind. Everyone knows what it is, and it is considered by many as one of the best lines of all time. I didn't know what the big deal was as I never saw it. Then I watched the entire movie with my mom and sister, oh so many years ago. When Rhett Butler uttered those words to Scarlett O'Hara, I nearly jumped up and shouted "YES!!!"
(oddly, I'm leaving out any Star Wars quotes. I could have said "Luke, at that speed do you think you'll be able to pull out in time?", "Mine, or I will help you not!", "It's a trap!", "There's always a bigger fish", "I can sense everything that's going on in that room", "Only a Sith deals in absolutes", etc... but there are just way too many to chose from... )
3. What is your favorite type of movie? (Action, scary, comedy, etc)
I really love horror movies (all kinds: good, bad, over the top; tongue in cheek; gory, creepy; etc...). Jen does not, although she's ok with some scary and creepy stuff (like The Ring, Paranormal Activity, etc), just no gore or violence for her. I really love the original Nightmare On Elm Street & Friday the 13th franchises.

Short side story, Jen bought our house before we were married (or even engaged), and the mirror in the bathroom looked like the mirror in the movie The Ring. I replaced it for her. haha. It was pretty creepy.
I also really love sci fi, action, and comedy.
4. What is your New Year's Resolution?
My New Year's Resolution from last year was to not post "Happy Birthday" on anyone's facebook wall (I don't think I ever told Jen that, but I think I succeeded). This year, my resolution is to stop doing that and try to post on all my friends' walls (I think i have all the 's and s' in the right places', correct me in the comments of not).

{Visiting from the link up} My hubby's favorite quote was on your man's "could have said..." list, "It's a Trap!" :) The New Year's resolutions answer cracked me up!!
ReplyDeleteHa yes, he loves that quote (among others, obviously- he loves loves loves to quote movies.) He got me a t-shirt that has the General (Akbar?) saying it's a trap and his fingers are in a Chinese finger trap. He thinks the shirt is hilarious. It makes me think of him, I'll say that. ;)
DeleteHA! It's a Tarp! Some more "It's A Trap" memes (i just tried adding images to this comment, and it wont let me, so here are the urls):

My wee one is 10 months old and she is not interested in walking. She likes to put her butt straight up in the air and keep both hands on the ground.. and that's about it. I'm so used to really short answers from the BoysBehindTheBlog- it was refreshing to see some longer answers!
ReplyDeleteAw, congrats on your baby. I'm sure it's so fun to watch her grow up and she'll get there walking. (That's what I keep saying about our son!)
DeleteAwh how cute! I love love love reading these!!!!
ReplyDeleteThanks! Ha my husband definitely likes writing these and answering the questions.
DeleteI think your husband needs his own blog! haha. Mine decided not to participate anymore. He's being a fuddy dud. :(
ReplyDeleteI don't think I'd be a good blogger. I'd probably be fine with a specific subject, and answering these types of questions, but I think I'd be pretty boring if I just talked about my day n'at.
DeleteAw, Julie! I'm disappointed your husband decided not to participate, even if he gave short answers. It's always interesting to hear the boy's perspective. ;)
DeleteI think if my husband had a blog it would be very interesting. Ha. And range in a very wide variety of topics.
I told my husband to do it and he never even started.
DeleteYou still should! And since his back is hurting, he's stuck there and can't walk away if you ask questions, haha. ;)
DeleteHahaha I love that last picture.
ReplyDeleteWe have a lot of good pictures of Neil with beer bottles. I don't know if this is cute or a sign that maybe we're alcoholics? ;)
