I found a code online for one month free so I ordered it without even talking to Dave (major marriage no-no, right?). It didn't cost anything but they do renew your subscription automatically so I knew I'd have to watch it. The package came in on Neil's birthday! Oh and I don't remember the code or I would have posted it, but it expired anyways.
This is how the box looks when you open it. I didn't think to take a picture of the unopened box.
These were the items that came with it (and as you can see, Neil couldn't keep his hands off this stuff, especially the book, long enough for me to take a picture).
Here's a breakdown of the items and how much they would cost on Amazon as of today.
Baby Car from Plan Toys
This is really cute and you can squeeze it together. Neil hasn't really played with it yet but I think he was too busy with the book. And birthday presents he's received.$14.99 on Amazon but on sale for $13.52 and eligible for Amazon Prime (free shipping for me since we belong)
Zoo Plate from Skip Hop
I couldn't find the shark plate by itself on Amazon and the prices for other characters seem to range between $10-15 and eligible for Amazon Prime. I think this will come in handy but so far Neil just dumps any dishes (plates/bowls) off his high chair so we'll save this for future.
Cleo's Colors from Barefoot Books

| This is the only way I could get a picture of the book "alone" |
$6.99 on Amazon but on sale for $6.62 and eligible for Amazon Prime.
Travel Dish Soap from Dapple
I'm not sure we will use this. We'll see. We have never washed Neil's dishes in anything special.$7.00 on Amazon but on sale for $1.79 as an add-on item.
There was also a coupon code for 20% off your first order at rubyribbon.com. I probably won't use that.
So overall counting the "sale" prices on Amazon (and most of this stuff doesn't sell for their listed retail) the value of the box was $31.93.
And their sales pitch was successful for me. Ha. They didn't need to pitch it to me but Dave was able to see what it was, and I signed up for a 6 month subscription. So we'll see how this is in the next 6 months and how we like it. I just like the idea of getting a surprise for Neil in the mail and hopefully we'll get some good stuff. He seems happy with the book alone and this was definitely worth the price (free, at least for this month's shipment).

Cute!! I might have to do this!
ReplyDeleteIf you do, they do have coupon codes so look it up on retailmenot.com or something like that. There was a coupon code for $10 off your first box if this is the first time you are ordering. I am planning on posting each month what arrives in our boxes. This goes up to age 5 I think. (There are other subscription things like this as well- I need to stop looking because they seem awesome- I think there's even one for running type items!)
