My weekly training posts are tracking how close I'm following my half marathon training plan. I'm also going to track monthly totals but they are going to be a bit different. In the training plan, I don't include walking in the totals if it's just a walk on the treadmill or outside for pure exercise. (I consider that cross training for the half marathon plan.) Also, often my runs are actually running totals based on Jeff Galloway's interval plan. Jeff Galloway has a method of using intervals of running and then walking to give your legs a rest period and allow your body to last longer. For the walk intervals in the training plan, they are counted simply as the running miles and total distance for the week.
For the monthly totals, I actually have broken out those walk intervals the best I can estimate based on my Garmin watch data. So the Walk total includes those intervals (and the Run total does not). Also, I have included any walks that I've done as either cross training in the plan or just to get out and walk.
In the month of January, these are my totals:
Run: 55.72 miles
Walk: 7.17 miles
Total: 62.89
This is more than I have run/walked yet! My highest mileage for a month last year was in June and that was 51.98 total, with a lot more walking (33.81 of the total mileage was running and 18.90 of that was walking).
I haven't posted a picture in awhile so here is one from North Park, where I run a lot with Colleen.
I wish I could give credit for these. They were taken by a photographer during the Resolution Relay. Unfortunately, none of the posted pictures were of me running. I know he took a close up as I rounded the bend to the finish but it must have been blurry or something, because it wasn't in the set of pictures.
