Valentine's Day

I don't really like Valentine's Day as a holiday.  Don't get me wrong, I LOVE getting flowers and the romantic type stuff.  But to make a holiday out of it?  Seems to me it's a day to get men to spend money.  Not to mention, if you're single, it just reminds you that you are and makes you feel bad.  That's actually the reason I don't like the holiday so much.

Dave and I never go out to eat on Valentine's Day, just to avoid the rush of making reservations, crowds, etc.  In fact, this year we stayed home, had chicken for dinner, and shared a growler of beer from Southern Tier Brewing (Pumpking).

Last year we were in San Francisco so we booked an evening tour of Alcatraz on Valentine's Day.  I figured it might be less crowded and it would keep us out of the restaurants and that craziness.  The weather was perfect- for the atmosphere.  Gloomy, rainy, and a bit chilly.

Dave does usually do something for me, though, even if we don't go out to eat and I insist this is a stupid holiday.  Monday I got a delivery at work and here is what he sent.  So pretty!  (Dave does a really good job spoiling me- he gets me flowers every so often and sometimes "just because."  He definitely knows me well!)
