Providence is about a 45-50 minute drive away. We timed it so that we left when Neil would normally nap. He fell asleep pretty quickly but didn't take as long a nap as usual. We would have sat in the parking garage and let him sleep longer but he woke up as we were driving into downtown Providence.

| Sudsy, Great Clips mascot I guess. Neil was not sure about him although he waved every time we walked by after this. |
Dave took Neil close to the ice before the game and Neil really liked that.

We were actually in row A of our section, which was about halfway up on the lower level. Great seats! I got them through work.
 |
We also got 3 free coupons for small popcorns. I redeemed two of them. It's hard to tell here but Neil ate pretty much both of them. |
 |
| This is the Bruin mascot, which Neil thought was Baloo from Jungle Book, hence the super excited face. |
Neil only really lasted the first 2 periods and we headed to a local brewery, Trinity Brewhouse. I did sip the beers to try them. My opinion is that the food was really good but the beer was so so. It was definitely very convenient to the Dunkin Donuts Center though so I would highly recommend it. And after the game ended it got really crowded!

| Neil loves this game and we use it sometimes at restaurants to keep him preoccupied until the food arrives. |

Neil fell asleep on the way home and the timing screwed up bedtime. But we had fun regardless. We can't seem to figure out how to do some of this stuff and not mess with naps or bedtime.
Looks like a fun trip!! We sometimes have a hard time doing stuff with Sydney's nap (1-3) and bed time (8) so sometimes we just wing it and hope for the best behaved, tired toddler we can! Usually if she is occupied + entertained she does pretty well. If we're going somewhere and know we'll be leaving late we usually just change her into PJs before we leave and she falls asleep in the car... it's not ideal, but she transfers well so it works for now
ReplyDeleteYeah we were kicking ourselves for not bringing pjs this trip! We just didn't think about timing. I guess they do better than we expect them to, most of the time anyways. He seems to sleep if he really wants/needs to but sometimes we do deal with crabby toddlerness. I know that's not a word.
DeleteI'm surprised you even do as much as you do with him. We do less with Ella.
ReplyDeleteSeems like a fun time.
Well and until this weekend we haven't done much really, after moving. It's partly saving money and partly just being busy with other stuff.
DeleteYou guys love your hockey. Neil is such a good sport (get it? HA). Nap time is always tricky even still. Sometimes it is worth it to just do what you want and hope for the best.
ReplyDeleteJulie, hasn't parker only missed his nap like 1 time?
DeleteHaha yeah we love all sports and that's one of the things we're going to miss most about Pittsburgh I think. Neil actually seems to like baseball/Pirates the most so we'll have to see about getting him to a baseball game in the spring/summer.
DeleteWe've messed with his nap schedule a lot of times before and I always hate it.
ReplyDeleteI do blame crankiness and temper tantrums on lack of naps if we miss them or they are too short... That's why I try to think about how to work around naps but a lot of the time it can just be impossible.
