Citrus Lane November 2014

This is the 11th month we've gotten a box from Citrus Lane. We received a box for free and then bought a six month subscription. Since then I bought another 6 month subscription for $105 total so that's $17.50 per box. My favorite box so far has been the May box. The boxes are definitely improving in general though; I liked all items in both the October and November boxes.

I had this box for at least a week, probably more, before Neil opened it. I actually forgot about it, with Thanksgiving and everything. I was cleaning in my bedroom one day and I heard Neil say "heavy". I turned around and he was bringing the box in, wanting to open it. He found it in our guest bedroom. Guess I need a better hiding spot!

Here's a breakdown of the items and how much they would cost on Amazon as of today:

Veggie Play Set from Plan Toys

I wasn't sure what was in this bag at first and looked at the card to see. This was the last thing Neil really looked at after opening the box. The fruit and vegetables are cut in half and you can connect the pieces together with velcro. The set comes with a knife so you can cut the fruit and vegetables "in half". Neil didn't get it at first until I showed him and then he played with it for a little bit. It also has a cute little carrying bag to keep everything together.

$16.95 through Citrus Lane; this is exclusive to Citrus Lane. Shipping is $4.95.

Bear Takes a Trip from Barefoot Books

Last month and this month both included books. I was very pleased and so was Neil! I don't think he can have too many books at this point.

$6.99 on Amazon but on sale for $6.49 and eligible for Amazon Prime.

Chunky Puzzle from Melissa & Doug

We were just at Toys R Us and I almost bought Neil a puzzle. Now I'm glad I didn't. I got to pick which puzzle he got and I chose transportation. Neil is really into puzzles right now so this was a definite hit.

$9.99 on Amazon and eligible for Amazon Prime.

Snack Mix from Annie's

I should have pulled this out of the box before Neil opened it, oops! But he was due for a snack anyways so I just gave him this. He ate it right up and was pointing at the different shapes. I've never bought this brand before and generally do more healthy snacks (banana for example). they also included a coupon for the store so I'll probably use that.

$24.57 for a box of 12 on Amazon and eligible for Amazon Prime. I will call this $2.00 doing a divide by.
There was a coupon code for Tiny Prints, which I might use for Christmas cards when we have a picture ready. It was 25% off plus free shipping. I'll of course compare to other sales on other sites before buying but this might be worth it. There was also a code for $10 off a purchase of $50 or more in the Citrus Lane shop. I have never bought from there directly and probably won't now either.

Overall counting the "sale" prices on Amazon the value of the box was $40.38.  I think that the quality of items/selection of items is really going up in the boxes after taking a nose dive. I think the price for that veggie set might be inflated, so to me this estimate feels a little high, but we will use all the items in this box and it's definitely worth more than I paid for it.

  1. Wow I'm really digging this box! Lots of great items. Parker really loves his veggies and cutting them with the pretend knife. I also know that puzzle will continue to be a hit. Plus the book is great, too. I'm impressed! Oh and we love Annie's brand. Parker is obsessed with their cheddar bunnies.

    1. Yeah I'm starting to think after having this stuff out that this might be my favorite box. :) Good items for sure! And the book has a clock on each page at different times to teach the kids how to read a clock. Neil is too young for that now but we point out the clock on every page and I say what time it is.

    1. I bet yours will start to improve. AND I will say that they did take a nosedive for me but are getting better again. I probably will not review again though. We have way too much stuff as it is. But even now I'm still using body wash for Neil, lotion for Neil, etc. that came awhile ago.
