14 weeks

YAY! I am officially in the 2nd trimester! For sure! Some people say you are at 13 weeks but nobody can say I'm not in the 2nd trimester now.

I think I'm finally getting bigger in the mid section but it's still not baby bump, it's just fat! The baby is so low that you wouldn't see it pushing out at all. But it IS the length of a lemon (ish) so I think it's pushing all my fat up and out a little bit.

I've been really busy at work, doing testing. It's a lot of standing, although I have a chair there if I need it but really don't have the time to sit. And although I really haven't gained weight and don't have a stomach, my back is hurting by the end of the day. I'm really glad to get in the car and drive home.

We chose a day care- the one near our house, and paid the registration fee.  I know at 11 weeks I said we had to decide in 1 week, but the owner was getting us recommendations and said not to rush the decision. (Although this is still probably pretty early and the only thing we've really done so far. Haven't discussed names, registry, shower, what we want to buy furniture wise, etc.)
Hard to see anything fully clothed

So until it starts to be noticeable I'll continue to lift my shirt a little

How many weeks: 14

Size of baby: A lemon and measures 9-10 cm or 3.5-4.0 inches. The baby also weights 50 grams or about 1.75 ounces.

Total Weight Gain/Loss: I actually lost weight towards the end of this week. And I had been gaining. So I'm down 1 pound this week and down 1.5 pounds overall. Although that will probably go up again next week; this week I've been up until the last few days. Maybe I had a metabolism spike...

Maternity Clothes: Nope, still no maternity clothes. Everything fits fine but I do think that I'm starting to get a "gut". But it definitely doesn't keep me from wearing my normal clothes.

Sleep: With work I have been exhausted. For the most part I am sleeping like a log. I still get up to pee a few times each night but I fall back asleep as soon as I crawl back into bed. I asked at my appointment this week (at the midwife center) and they said I can sleep on my back or stomach as long as it's comfortable; the baby is protected. Good to know. Apparently if anything could hurt the baby it will also affect me. I had been trying to avoid rolling onto my stomach but now it's all fair game! For a bit at least.

What I miss: This week several times I have wanted a glass of wine sooo badly.

Cravings: None

Aversions: The chicken/beef one seems to come and go now. I haven't gotten the nerve to try eggs yet. They tasted worse than chicken or beef.

Symptoms: Hmm... I still get light headed easily. I still have the super sense of smell. And kind of the aversions. But I'm feeling pretty good now that I'm in the 2nd trimester, which is supposed to be the best one! Hopefully I will be running again soon.

Best moment this week: My appointment. It was another of those milestones we didn't reach in the previous pregnancies. And I seriously can't get enough of hearing this baby's heartbeat.

Looking forward to: So this is further out now but I scheduled my A/S ultrasound for September 7th! We'll find out boy or girl. (Hopefully.) The question is, will we tell???

  1. So that's the day care you went with. What helped make your final decision? Just that it was close?

I'm glad you want to find out if it is a boy or girl.

    1. I could write a book on what thought went into choosing a daycare, actually. But basically it boiled down to how we felt about the places and ultimately for the final decision, the location. This one is in our neighborhood, so it's super convenient. I do have a few reservations but I think some of this is just never dealing with any of this stuff before.

$ wise: We looked at 5 total. One was a lot more expensive than the others; one was a lot cheaper than the others. Three were smack dab in the middle. This one was the most expensive of those three (so 2nd highest overall) but it's smaller, kinda out of a home... and the price difference between those three was still fairly tight anyways.

We didn't pick the cheapest because I didn't like the feel of the place and wasn't comfortable with it.
