I don't really feel pregnant so this is still kind of surreal. The first pregnancy it set in when I dropped a cymbal on my foot and had to have stitches. We had to tell people (doctors, nurses, etc.) I was pregnant and worried about whether or not a tetanus shot would affect a fetus and whether I should get one. (The answer is that the booster should be ok but don't get TDAP or something like that, which includes whooping cough and would be bad for the baby. Tetanus itself is very bad for the baby if you get it.) The second pregnancy was really soon after the first so I felt pregnant the whole time and I think that it was more that I hadn't dealt with our first loss at that point. This pregnancy feels more like the first. It will be interesting to see when reality sets in- maybe at our first ultrasound. Which will be the upcoming week!
I'm deleting some of the questions that will be "not yet" for awhile.
How many weeks: 6
Size of baby: 1/4 inch, lentil
Total Weight Gain/Loss: Since we were out of town when I actually hit 6 weeks I didn't weigh myself.
Maternity Clothes: Not yet
Sleep: I'm still having a lot of dreams but most of them I don't remember. I'm getting tired more easily than usual and Dave just pointed out on a pregnancy calendar that it says to make sure you take rest breaks during the day because you're going to be tired. (He pointed it out because I'm not necessarily doing that.)
What I miss: Um.... nothing... I don't think.
Cravings: Nothing yet.
Aversions: I seem to have an aversion to hamburgers. We stopped at Wendy's after playing out on Saturday because we were both hungry and the hamburger just tasted bland. And eggs might be a problem, too. I only tried that once but they tasted like they weren't cooked enough and I know they were. Dave wasn't around or I would have had him try my sandwich to make sure it was just me.
Symptoms: I forgot to list last week- I have always seemed to have low blood pressure although since college it seems to have normalized. But with the pregnancy, I have to be very careful about standing up too fast, etc. I start to feel a bit woozy/dizzy sometimes. That's how I used to feel with the low blood pressure so I assume it probably has something to do with that. So add that to the list. Sensitive gums, increased sense of smell, tendency to feel light headed, some crampiness. And poor Dave, I kind of had a meltdown this week about cleaning the bathroom because I couldn't get it clean enough. Holy emotions!
Best moment this week: It's been pretty quiet. We've been just taking it easy and it's been really nice to relax.
Looking forward to: June 13th and my first ultrasound
I got dizzy in the first trimester in all three of my pregnancies too. The up and down emotions are normal too.
ReplyDeleteI always get light headed pretty easily. You'd think I would remember not to stand up too fast but no. Will the ultra light headedness be one of those things that goes away in the 2nd trimester (hasn't yet) or does it go the whole 9 months?
DeleteFirst let me add that I will be adding comments today to a few of your posts because I got busy and completely forgot you would be updating these daily to get caught up.
DeleteMy lightheaded-ness did mostly go away after the first trimester.
Funny about the hamburgers. Before I knew for sure I was pregnant (tho I suspected) I had this CRAZY hankering for a McDonald's quarter pounder with cheese. I made Josh drive out and buy me one. When I bit into it it tasted like a was eating PURE SALT. Terrible. I didn't eat another burger the entire pregnancy!
