18 weeks

I ran for the first time since May this past week. It was so nice. I went with a good friend and I realized even more just how much I have missed running. It can be such a good stress reliever.

I finally am getting a stomach that is a little bit noticeable in clothes! Dave pointed it out when we were at his sister's over the weekend and a few friends/coworkers have agreed that they can see it. Of course, I know there's a long ways to go but it's nice to see something down there! I wonder if I'll pop and be obviously pregnant in the next few weeks. Remember how I was kinda complaining last week??

And there's a little belly!
How many weeks: 18

Size of baby: A sweet potato and measures 15 cm or 6 inches.  The baby also weighs 250 grams or 8.5 ounces.

Total Weight Gain/Loss: I gained 1 pound this past week. Overall I am up 3.5 pounds.

Maternity Clothes: I want to go out and buy some soon. I at least need something like a be band. It's amazing how much difference you can see in just one week. I think this is why I have had some weight gain, too. A week ago my work pants were loose and now they're kind of tight. I'm not ready for actual maternity clothes yet but things are definitely tight. The be band should help that.

Gender: We will know in 8 days!

Movement: Last week I thought maybe I was feeling something. I didn't feel anything at all this week so it was probably more my imagination. I had my monthly appointment yesterday and she said I might not feel anything until around 20 weeks. I'm trying to be patient.

Sleep: I thought we were supposed to get energy in the second trimester! ;) Last night I fell asleep without meaning to on the couch before 7pm. And I'm just really tired. So yep I'm still sleeping really well.

What I miss: Beer, beer, beer. Pumpkin beers are out. If you haven't ever, try one on my behalf. Dogfish Head Punkin, Southern Tier Pumpking, Weyerbacher Imperial Pumpkin, or Michigan Brewing Screamin' Pumpkin.  All good pumpkin beers.

Cravings: I'm not having any cravings but I think I'm getting more hungry now, in general. I need to try to focus and eat more healthily.

Aversions: I had hard boiled eggs in a salad and was fine with those. So maybe eggs are ok now. Ground beef for the most part seems ok. Chicken, I still need to keep trying. But yep, I think these are all going away. No more excuses for living on pizza and ice cream, haha!

Symptoms: I am getting pretty tired again, more than I had been. I also have round ligament pain. I wasn't sure what it was but when I pointed to where it was at my appointment yesterday she said that's probably what it was. I don't consider it painful, but I realized after she said what it was, that it kind of is painful but the same way sore muscles are (and I think round ligament pain is just sore muscles that are growing). I actually love the feeling of sore muscles the day after I work out; it proves I did something!

Best moment this week: It has been a crazy (busy) week. And I thought things were going to slow down for us! On Saturday we had a garage sale and we sold everything we were trying to except the stair stepper and a printer/computer monitor that are basically junk (and had free signs on them the entire time). So that frees up a LOT of room. I keep walking into some of our rooms and just saying ahhhh because it feels so nice in there and not as cluttered. We still have some work to do but that's one step closer to getting a nursery ready!

Looking forward to: 8 days until our ultrasound. :)

  1. When I first felt movement I'd feel some and then I wouldn't for a couple days so you might have felt some movement last week even though you haven't felt much or anything since then. I was 20-something weeks when I was feeling the baby consistently and I noticed that I felt her more when I was laying still and usually at night because they say that when you're on the go it's essentially like rocking the baby to sleep.

  2. Oh round ligament pain. I know that pain! lol. I tried posting about that pain online and some idiot man that thinks he knows everything tried telling me it couldnt be my ligaments if it felt like sore muscles. I am like.... yea its on all the baby sites and other women Ive talked to that felt it said their doc told them its what is was. LOL I always hate when men men try to pipe in on my pregnancy questions. LIKE they know what they are talking about. lol. (unless the are an OB... lol)

PS dont mind my hormones today complaining about men. LOL I think you know how that goes tho. LOL

As for the movement, yes in the beginning it was very sporatic. I want to say after 20 weeks is when it should be more consistant and especially at night. STILL to this day when I am still is when Christopher starts to go crazy. Im at the point tho that you can see entire limbs popping out of my stomach (i also dont have the anterior uterus you said you have tho).

    1. I think the round ligament pain was actually due to the run I did. The pain really just lasted a day or so. That probably means I need to be careful about running. I don't think it was a bad thing- I think it's just that my leg muscles and other muscles that have never been used before are going to be sore, so I don't want to do too much. Now that I know, I'll be more careful for sure!

And DEFINITELY it feels like sore muscles. Don't worry about venting; I understand. In fact, I'd take that one step further and say how does a male OB/GYN really know what it feels like?

  4. Yay! I'm all caught up on your pregnancy posts! I can definitely see your belly in that picture! Woooo! I'm excited for you to find out the gender on Friday! Will you tell me at my jewelry party or are you going to wait? I can't wait to find out haha!

PS- I deleted my original comment because I put a ? instead of an ! and it didn't make sense haha.

    1. Dave and I are considering waiting a week to tell people boy/girl. We're going to talk about it. We are going on vacation right after for a week and might want to keep it private and to ourselves just for a little bit- something for us to just enjoy ourselves. But we haven't decided yet. Everyone knows when the ultrasound and maybe it's not fair to keep everyone else in suspense.

  5. Yup you are showing. I can't wait to see a collage of the weeks to see it all together.

I can't get over how much you miss beer. I don't even know what I'd miss if I was pregnant.

    1. Well I do miss more than beer but I think beer is the biggest thing. Beer/wine. Just because I do enjoy it and it's hard when others around me are drinking and I can't. But the things I miss are worth it. :)

Everyone is still telling me I'm not showing yet, really, and I have to admit, that this outfit shows more than regular clothes I wear. I will get a lot bigger before the end of January!
